On October 9, 2008, Dickie Hamilton became the first of three workers to die on Wanzek wind energy projects. The Oklahoman reports on his death, which occurred near Grafton, Iowa.

MASON CITY, Iowa — The Iowa Division of Labor Services said it plans to issue three citations to a construction company for a wind farm accident Oct. 9 that killed an Oklahoma man.

Dick Hamilton, 46, of Tishmingo was injured when a fork lift ran over him at the Barton Windmill Project. Hamilton later died of his injuries.

Wanzek Construction of Fargo, N.D., failed to ensure that its employees had completed training, Iowa safety officials said.
